This project in Akasaka, Tokyo, involved renovating an existing building for use as an apartment hotel. The building has four floors, with one guest room on each of floors 2, 3 and 4. Spaces previously used as offices and residences were reorganized into three apartment hotel rooms, each with a distinct design.
The design reworked the functions, guest circulation and residential atmosphere within the existing building, turning spaces originally intended for other uses into comfortable rooms for short stays and travel. Each floor has its own design language, giving guests an independent spatial character within the same building.
The three rooms use different materials, colours and spatial expressions, ranging from a bright, warm atmosphere inspired by Japanese daily life to calmer rooms with a stronger individual character. Tatami, wood, lattice screens, fabric curtains, lighting and furniture arrangements integrate rest, dining, storage and short-term living within limited urban space.
